This free online talk weaves together the story of the establishment of the Royal National Park with the richness that comes from a relatively intact catchment - a photographic journey with exquisite images from the headwaters of the Hacking River catchment, to the sea.

Australia’s Native bees

If you are curious about Australian native bees, this free online zoom presentation hosted by National Parks Association Southern Sydney will be of interest. Dr Tim Heard is an expert entomologist and science communicator. He'll be discussing the beauty and diversity of Australia’s native bees, from solitary bees to stingless bees that can be kept in hives and produce honey. He will also outline what you can do to support bee habitat.

Birding walk, Royal National Park

This walk is hosted by Friends of the Royal National Park, but numbers are limited. This may book out quickly. If they receive more than 12 registrations they might organise a second birdwalk.
The walk will go south along the iconic coast track, from Wattamolla, perhaps as far as Curracurrong (Eagle Rock) ….around 8km return. Extraordinary scenery and a terrific birding walk.

Sydney’s last Koala colony is being pushed to the brink by massive development and other human factors. Can it survive? Join us for this film preview about the movement of koalas from Campbelltown toward Sutherland Shire and the Royal National Park, and the obstacles koalas face on the way. Film makers Georgia Wallace-Crabbe and Gregory Miller will speak prior to the screening, about their work, and what is at stake.

Towra Point Nature Reserve clean up

The Towra Point Nature Reserve clean up has now been rescheduled if anyone is keen and able to assist. From 18, 19 & 20 May. This is a restricted and protected area, not normally open to the public, and access is via boat only. Boat transport will be provided, and volunteers will need to meet at the Bonna Point Boat Ramp. All Volunteers will need to pre-register.
